Asphalt Patching work by Lines by JD

Give us a call about those potholes and broken sections in your driveway or parking lot. Patching controls further deterioration and heads off expensive repairs later on.

A pothole is rarely just a surface problem. By the time you can see it, water has usually been getting into the base for a while and softening it. That is why filling a hole with cold patch and hoping tends not to work — within a season the same spot has failed again.

Doing it so it stays fixed

We cut back to sound material, remove what has failed, address the base underneath, then fill and compact properly so the patch is tied into the pavement around it rather than sitting in it like a plug. Compaction is the part that decides whether it lasts, and it is the part most commonly rushed.

Where the damage is caused by water pooling, we will say so. Patching a low spot that collects every rainfall just resets the clock — sometimes the honest answer is that the grading needs attention, not the surface.

When patching is the right call

Patching makes sense while the damage is localised. If the majority of a lot is failing, patch after patch stops being economical and resurfacing is the better spend. We will give you a straight assessment of which situation you are in, including when the answer is that you do not need us yet.

Common questions

Asphalt Patchingquestions.

Can you patch just one section, or does the whole lot need doing?
In most cases a patch is exactly the right answer. Replacing sound pavement because one area failed is a waste of money — we will tell you plainly if the damage is isolated or if the base has gone across a wider area.
Why do potholes keep coming back in the same spot?
Usually because the failure is in the base, not the surface, and the previous repair only filled the hole. A patch that lasts means digging out the failed material and rebuilding what is underneath.
How long does a patch take?
Most patching jobs are done in a day, and you can normally use the area again shortly afterwards.
